Frequently asked questions
Quick answers. If yours isn't here, get in touch.
Which services are supported? +
Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Tidal, and Deezer.
You can transfer between any combination of these as source and destination.
Is it really free? +
Yes. No premium tier, no track limits, no feature gating. Donations are appreciated
but entirely optional.
Do I need to create an account? +
No. You can transfer playlists without creating an account. Optionally, you can
sign in with Google, Apple, or a passkey to save your transfer history to your
account. Anonymous transfers work exactly the same — history is stored in
your browser for 7 days.
How does track matching work? +
Tuneshift first tries to match tracks by ISRC (a unique recording identifier).
When that's not available, it falls back to matching by title, artist, album,
and duration. The confidence badge on the results page shows how strong each match is.
Why were some tracks not matched? +
The most common reasons: the track isn't available on the destination service,
it's region-locked, or it's listed under a different name or artist. You can
export unmatched tracks as CSV and add them manually.
Is my data safe? +
Your streaming tokens are stored in an encrypted session cookie (AES-256-GCM)
in your browser and never written to a server database. Playlist data is
processed in memory during the transfer and discarded afterward. If you create
an account, only your name and email from the sign-in provider are stored. See the privacy policy for full details.
Why does YouTube Music have a quota warning? +
YouTube's API has a daily quota of 10,000 units. Each track search + add costs
roughly 150 units, limiting transfers to about 65 tracks per day. This is a
YouTube-imposed limit that Tuneshift can't bypass. Transferring from YouTube
Music is not affected.
Can I transfer liked songs / saved tracks? +
Yes. If the source service exposes your liked songs as a playlist (most do),
it will appear in the selection grid. For supported destinations (Spotify and
Apple Music), you can add those tracks directly to your library instead of
creating a separate playlist.
How long are results saved? +
Transfer results are saved for 7 days. You can close the tab and come back
later to view them. If you're signed in, results are linked to your account.
If not, they're tied to a browser cookie. After 7 days, they're automatically
deleted.
Can I undo a transfer? +
There is no automatic undo. Tuneshift creates new playlists on the destination —
it does not modify existing ones (unless you explicitly opt into the "replace library"
option for liked songs). You can delete the created playlists manually in your
destination app.
